# gpt-4o-mini-transcribe

Calls to the model gpt-4o-mini-transcribe on OpenAI stop working on February 26, 2027.

On February 26, 2027, OpenAI will shut down the gpt-4o-mini-transcribe model. Any API requests targeting model gpt-4o-mini-transcribe will fail after this date. This retirement also covers gpt-4o-mini-transcribe-2025-12-15.

## What to use instead

Switch to gpt-live-transcribe or gpt-transcribe. Moving to gpt-live-transcribe requires more than updating an identifier, as it only runs in Realtime transcription sessions (/v1/realtime/transcription_sessions) where audio is streamed in and transcript deltas are returned, instead of uploading files to /v1/audio/transcriptions.

gpt-live-transcribe only runs in Realtime transcription sessions (/v1/realtime/transcription_sessions): audio is streamed in and transcript deltas come back, with no file upload to /v1/audio/transcriptions.
