# The A2A v0.3 method naming is deprecated

Agent2Agent Protocol deprecated A2A calls message/*, tasks/*, agent/* without giving a shutdown date yet.

The Agent2Agent Protocol deprecated v0.3 method naming on March 12, 2026, without a shutdown date. This deprecation affects A2A calls message/*, tasks/*, and agent/*. After the shutdown takes effect, affected calls will fail.

## What to use instead

Use the v1.0 method names, such as SendMessage for message/send, SendStreamingMessage for message/stream, GetTask for tasks/get, CancelTask for tasks/cancel, SubscribeToTask for tasks/resubscribe, GetExtendedAgentCard for agent/getAuthenticatedExtendedCard, and CreateTaskPushNotificationConfig for tasks/pushNotificationConfig/set. Moving requires more than updating names: the team must decide on adapting to message format changes, including a single Part type, mediaType, TASK_STATE_* and ROLE_* values, and the A2A-Version: 1.0 header. The v1.0 names only work with agents serving A2A 1.0.

The v1.0 names work only on an agent that serves A2A 1.0 (its agent card lists a 1.0 interface), which the calling code does not tell, and v1.0 changes the messages too: the team decides.
