# applies_to on PUT /api/v1/outcome/{} is deprecated

Close API deprecated PUT /api/v1/outcome/{id}, body parameter applies_to without giving a shutdown date yet.

Close API has deprecated the body parameter applies_to on PUT /api/v1/outcome/{id} without a shutdown date. Close API announced on March 6, 2026, that the field is deprecated on write operations and will eventually be ignored rather than accepted. Calls that continue to rely on setting this parameter will fail to update it once the change takes effect.

## What to use instead

Stop sending applies_to and instead set the outcome's type to custom or vm-dropped, from which Close derives the value.

## Close API's words

> deprecated on write operations (create and update). In a future update, the field will be ignored on create and update requests and will instead be derived from the type field

Okapi finds the calls this change hits in your repo and opens the pull request with the fix: https://github.com/apps/okapi-agent
