# POST /v1/summarize is deprecated

Cohere deprecated POST /v1/summarize without giving a shutdown date yet.

Cohere has deprecated the POST /v1/summarize endpoint without providing a shutdown date. This deprecation affects all requests sent directly to the legacy summarization route. When the endpoint is eventually turned off, requests made to POST /v1/summarize will fail.

## What to use instead

Use the Chat endpoint with a summarization prompt instead.
