# category pdf, github and tweet on POST /search is deprecated

Exa API deprecated POST /search, body parameter category without giving a shutdown date yet.

The Exa API has deprecated the pdf, github, and tweet values for the category body parameter on POST /search without a shutdown date. Requests relying on these deprecated search categories will eventually fail. The change was announced on July 23, 2026.

## What to use instead

Use other search categories instead, such as publication for scholarly results.
