# Device group management on /notification stops working

Calls to /notification on Firebase Cloud Messaging stop working on September 29, 2027.

On September 29, 2027, the device group feature and InstanceId server APIs will be decommissioned. Calls to the /notification endpoint will fail after this date. This removal affects all requests using device group management.

## What to use instead

Send to each FCM registration token with POST /v1/projects/{project}/messages:send instead of using a device group. Because device groups have no direct replacement, your code must maintain its own list of registration tokens and send to each individually.

Device groups have no replacement: the code must keep its own list of registration tokens and send to each.
