# /inference* stops working

Calls to /inference* on GitHub Models stopped working on July 30, 2026.

GitHub Models retired its inference endpoints on July 30, 2026. Calls to /inference* fail since that day, as the service was fully retired along with its playground, model catalog, and BYOK endpoints.

## What to use instead

Use Microsoft Foundry's model catalog or GitHub Copilot for model access. Moving to Microsoft Foundry requires more than updating an identifier, as it is a separate platform with its own account, keys, and model ids.
