# The dissolved_before query parameter is deprecated

OpenCorporates API deprecated GET /v0.4/companies/search, query parameter dissolved_before without giving a shutdown date yet.

The dissolved_before query parameter on the GET /v0.4/companies/search endpoint has been deprecated without a shutdown date. This parameter was previously used to restrict results to companies with a dissolution date prior to a specified date. Requests relying on dissolved_before will eventually fail.

## What to use instead

Use the dissolution_date date filter with the format dissolution_date=:YYYY-MM-DD instead.
