# id on GET /data/2.5/weather is deprecated

OpenWeather API deprecated GET /data/2.5/weather, query parameter id without giving a shutdown date yet.

OpenWeather API has deprecated the query parameter id on GET /data/2.5/weather without an announced shutdown date. This deprecation affects requests made by city id to the current weather endpoint. When this change takes full effect, calls relying on this parameter fail.

## What to use instead

Resolve the city ID with the Geocoding API and call with lat and lon instead.

- API: OpenWeather API (api.openweathermap.org)
- Kind: Parameter removal
- Takes effect: no date given yet
- Calls after that day: fail
- Calls it hits: `GET /data/2.5/weather`, `query parameter id`
