# POST /payroll.xro/1.0/PayItems now requires IsQualifyingEarnings

Calls to POST /payroll.xro/1.0/PayItems on Xero API stopped working on September 10, 2026.

On September 10, 2026, the IsQualifyingEarnings property became mandatory for create and update requests for AU Earnings Rates and Pay Items. Calls to POST /payroll.xro/1.0/PayItems fail if this field is missing.

## What to use instead

Send IsQualifyingEarnings on every earnings rate in POST /payroll.xro/1.0/PayItems. When set to true, IsSubjectToSuper must be true and IsExemptFromSuper must be false.
